Rekopane Estates harvested their first citrus

Rekopane Estates harvested their first citrus on the 5th of May 2009.

The 8 hectares of citrus yielded an excellent crop. A total of 70 tons were harvested and transported to ALG Farms, were it was packed and exported. (At this stage Rekopanes Estates do not have packing facilities for citrus). The citrus was marketed as a Fairtrade produce and being of exceptional high quality, the premium back on the farm was implemented for the upliftment of the community. The premium will be implemented in the community projects e.g. soccer field, netball court etc.

Another 5 hectares will be planted in the near future.
